A boy-run troop means that more experienced boys lead by example. Under the guidance and mentorship of the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters, they do the majority of the planning and execution of activities and campouts. It does not mean that the troop is a free-for-all. There is freedom within form. The troop agrees with and supports the purpose of Boy Scouts: to develop in a young man the ability to do things for himself and for others, to train him in outdoor skills, and to teach him patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues. |
