TROOP 220 DISCIPLINE POLICY

The building of each person's esteem is in the best interest of each Scout, and at the heart of the Scouting program. Scouting should be a positive and rewarding experience for each Scout, while building upon his physical and moral values. Any tearing down of another person's esteem is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Each Scout is expected to live by the values of the Scout Law.

RESULTS OF VERBAL ABUSE AND NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR

1st offense - Verbal warning by the Scoutmaster or an Assistant Scoutmaster.
2nd offense - Time out from the activity as assigned by the Scoutmaster (minimum of ten minutes).
3rd offense - Same as the 2nd offense, but the Scoutmaster will discuss the issues with the Scout's parents.
4th offense - The Scout will be sent home. This could come earlier depending upon the severity of the act(s). If this happens while on an outing, it will be the parent's responsibility to arrange transportation for the boy.

RESULTS OF PHYSICAL ABUSE

The general rule in Scouting is "Hands Off". No acts of violence will be tolerated.

1st offense - Talk with the Scout and try to work things out.
2nd offense - Send the Scout home. If this happens while on an outing, it will be the parent's responsibility to arrange transportation for the boy. Depending upon the act(s), the Scout may not be eligible to attend the next outing. This will be at the sole discretion of the Scoutmaster.

RESULTS OF DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR

If anyone is caught engaging in acts which are dangerous to themselves or to other; i.e. throwing knives, hatchets, etc, throwing of gas or other flammables on a fire, or using gas in a way not intended for its use, or similar acts, they will be dealt with in a similar manner as physical abuse (above). Most likely, the Scout will be immediately sent home. If this happens while on an outing, it will be the parent's responsibility to arrange transportation for the boy.

It is the intention of the Troop to provide a safe and positive Scouting experience for each and every Scout in the Troop. Any questions concerning the Troop's discipline policy should be addressed to the Scoutmaster.

Discipline is the responsibility of the Scoutmaster, or the Assistant Scoutmaster responsible for the activity if the Scoutmaster is not present.
