Yes, you can do this with tape and a pencil. But it's a lot more informative to do it with a professional. Thanks to Pat from the Belfair Sheriff's Substation for a great and interesting afternoon. We went over the worksheets (that had already been completed) and learned some things we didn't know.
We filled out the cards just as we would if we were going in for a job that required a background check. The Sheriff's office volunteer helped us take our prints, and we discussed the differences. Afterward, we went for a bite to eat, and each of us identified the different whirls, arches, and loops on our prints. Gabe's ALL matched - does that mean he has a perfect hand? If so, what do Elisha's (who had a different one for each finger!) mean? Draw your own conclusions!
I would encourage anyone wanting to do the Fingerprinting badge to go the extra distance and learn from a professional, if possible.
