T
o: All Scouts in Troop 220
From: Scoutmaster
This past weekend we had several Scouts who routinely used swear words that are not becoming of a Boy Scout. I am issuing this memo so that you will not have any questions as to my policy on this issue. You should review this memo with your parents so they are also aware of this policy.
I will not tolerate swearing or the use of foul language by any Scout within the troop. Any Scout heard using such language will be taken aside and the issue discussed with him. The second time it is heard, the Scout's parents will be involved in the discussion and the Scout will be dismissed from the activity. The third time it is heard, the Scout will not be eligible to attend the next troop outing.
The Senior Patrol Leader or any of the Patrol leaders have the authority to address this issue with the Scout as it occurs, but cannot issue discipline. Discipline will be handled by the Scoutmaster or the Assistant Scoutmaster only. I would expect the Senior Patrol Leader or Patrol Leaders to bring this issue to me when noticed by them.
You would not expect me to use such language and I do not expect you to use it either. If you are frustrated or angry, there are more appropriate words that can be used to express your feelings.
This policy is in compliance with the troop's Discipline Policy. The Discipline Policy is available for review.
I am available to discuss this issue with anyone at their request.
