UNIFORMS and INSIGNIA

The Troop uniform consists of the Boy Scout shirt, red Scout neckerchief with blue trim, gray neckerchief slide, Boy Scout ballcap, a Boy Scout belt, and green pants. The uniform insignia consist of the Pacific Harbors Council patch, World Crest patch, "220" Troop numerals, and the patrol patch (to be determined at a later date). The uniform should be worn at all troop meetings and Scouting functions. The Scoutmaster will determine if and when it is not feasible to wear the uniform.

The patches, neckerchief, and slide will be provided by the Troop as each boy joins.

Right Sleeve: The right sleeve holds the American flag, followed by the Patrol patch, and the most recent Quality Award emblem earned by the troop.

Other awards that may be worn on the right sleeve include the Musician's badge and National Honor Patrol stars.

Right Pocket: You'll notice that there is a patch pinned to the right pocket in the photo above. This is a temporary patch, commemorating a special event. Scouts may wear one temporary patch at a time. Members of the Order of the Arrow may wear lodge insignia on the pocket flap. Above the pocket is the Boy Scouts of America strip. Above this strip may go an interpreter strip. The Recruiter strip is worn below the right pocket.

Left Sleeve: The Council Shoulder Patch is worn at the arc of the top of the left sleeve. Underneath that is our Troop number, followed by a Leadership Emblem.

On the Left Pocket, a Scout wears his rank. Scouts below First Class often pin their ranks if they are working to advance quickly.

Above the Left Pocket: Special medals may be worn above the left pocket. There are many different square knots available to be earned, including the Youth Religious Emblem Award, Eagle Scout Award, the William T. Hornaday Award, and others.

Service Stars indicating a Scout's years in Boy Scouts may be worn 3/8" above the pocket or knots. Centered above the left pocket (and any knots and stars) is the optional World Crest patch.

Neckwear: Our troop wears a red neckerchief held by a BSA slide.

Hats: Hats are available at the Scout Shop. Please consider putting your name in it immediately as they are occasionally found left behind. Unmarked ones are not often recovered by their original owners.

Sashes: Sashes are to be worn for formal occasions such as Courts of Honor, a recognition dinner, or formal presentations. They are not for campouts, or normal troop activity. The sash is worn coming down from the right shoulder. It lays flat against the shoulder and is not to be attached under the epulets.

Nothing except for merit badges is to be worn on the front of the sash. Merit badges are worn three across, in whatever order a Scout chooses. They do NOT need to be displayed in order earned.

On the back of the sash, temporary insignia may be worn. (Temporary insignia are those insignia given for participating in a unit, District, Council, or National event or program.) Click here for more information on what constitutes "temporary insignia".

SPECIAL ITEMS:
At the first court of honor after earning First Class, the troop recongizes this achievement by providing the Scout with an official troop nametag to be worn above the right front breast pocket.
When a Scout reaches the rank of Life, the troop buys him a red Scout vest.
